Week 43 - Hej på er! :) (Hello to you)

Hey everyone!
This week has been wonderful! So we had transfers this past week, so Elder Scott hopped on a plane to the other side of the world! We were able to travel up to Stockholm together, so that was pretty fun! So, that means, new comp! His name is Elder Hansen and he is from American Fork! Super cool kid. I'm really excited to get to know him and to help him get into the swing of things here in Sweden. :)

Two cool stories from this week! So the first one is a "fourth floor last door" kind of a story. But I always knock building from the top down, so it is a "first floor, first door" story. haha anyways, we went to swing-by an old investigator but he wasn't home so we said, we came here for something, so lets knock some doors! We knocked 5 or 6 buildings and it was almost time for us to catch our bus but we decided to finish the building. The last door, we didn't even have to knock. He opened the door to leave, so we just talked to him in the hallway! He was super down and even said, "I'm free most Sundays, can I come to church? and we set up a return appointment! Pretty cool if you ask me. :)

This one isn't really a story, but we will go with it. This past week I have seen the Lord help me sooo much as I am training a new missionary. I have seen my Swedish go up tremendously and I just love the work that much more! The Lord sustains who he calls is a true statement!

I was reading in Mosiah this week about the story of Abinidi. Man isn't that guy just the coolest?! I LOVE his courage because he knows that the Lord is on his side. and as long as he is doing the right thing and doing his part, The Lord will protect him. That also applies to us today! Maybe not to the same extent as Abinidi, but if we follow what the Lord asks of us, he will protect us and bless us. :)

Well, that is all I have for this week. I hope you all have a fantastic week! Love you all. :) you know what comes next...
Keep The Faith!! :)

Love,
Elder Baggett

Week 42 - IT'S A BOY!

Stockholm!  The promised land!
Hallå allihopa!
This week has been one of FULL of tender mercies. We can just start off with those. :) first, last P-day, I received a training call! And after moving around so much these past couple months, I get to stay in Alingsås for a little while longer. :) This week is Elder Scotts last week! I have had such a good time serving with him and learning from him. He is a stud. :)

This past Tuesday, we had a pretty cool experience while we were out contacting! We have been having a hard time find new people to teach, and we have not had very much success contacting. But we have been praying and trying to work as hard as we can, so that the Lord can bless us! But anyways, we were our contacting and this guy starting walking towards us. He had tattoos and gages. Not going to lie, in my head, I said "Oh boy, here we go again" (I feel really bad about that. I have been trying to be better about NOT doing that.) and we stopped him and he was a devout catholic that was a little closed minded at first. But as we started talking to him, he became a little more relaxed and we gave him a Book of Mormon! We will see if anything comes out of it! Then, next guy we talked to we stopped him and he was a little bitter with God. He told us about how his is kind of questioning his existence. He had a really hard life and wondered why God wasn't there for him. We talked on the street for about a half hour. We testified our hearts out and it was so cool too see his heart soften as the Spirit talked to him. He ending up taking a Book as well and we promised him that if he read with a desire to know the truth that he could receive an answer! He was really excited to take a book and start reading. :) Little long, sorry, but cool experience!

The rest of this week was really good. We had train the trainers this past Friday in Stockholm. And it was an awesome training! I'm really excited to get my new missionary and help him the best I can! Cool story when we were leaving the training. We finished late, so we had to rush to the station. We hit traffic and it was not looking good to catch my train. I ran to my track, and I was nearly 5 minutes late and low and behold that sucker was still there! There was a signal failure so it had to leave late, and I caught my train! #blessed.

Little quote from conference for a spiritual thought this week. From President Uchdorfs talk entitled, "A Yearning for Home" and he said ,"God knows your every thought, your sorrows, and your greatest hopes. God knows the many times you have sought Him. The many times you have felt limitless joy. The many times you have wept in loneliness. The many times you have felt helpless, confused, or angry.
Yet, no matter your history--if you have faltered, failed, feel broken, bitter, betrayed, or beaten--know that you are not alone. God still calls to you.
The Savior extends His hand to you. And, as He did to those fishermen who stood long ago on the banks of the Sea of Galilee, with infinite love He speaks to you: “Come, follow me.”" And I KNOW that is true. :) I love this gospel and sharing it with others.

I hope you all have a great week! Thanks for bearing with me through this long email. Haha love you all so much and home you have a great week! As always, Keep the Faith. :)

Week 41 - MOOOOSE

Hey everyone!
So this week was an awesome one! When by craaaazy fast! We had the wonderful opportunity to listen to the Lord's living apostles on the earth today which, as always, was super up-lifting. I hope you all had the chance to listen to part, if not all of General Conference. If not, DO IT.

Other highlights from this week, we went on splits again which was a good time. I went with Elder Olson and he is so awesome! He is a convert of about 2 years. He left on his mission 1 year, almost to the day after he got baptized! It was super cool to get to know him a little better. We got a new investigator who is so so nice. We had Zone Conference, prime. We had General Conference, also prime. Will Thomas if you are reading this, I saw you lots like usual. and you looked very tan. :) haha We had 7 member meals this week. #blessed. We had 3 lessons in a row not show up this past Wednesday. #NotSoBlessed  and get this, WE SAW A MOOSE.  No joke. We were out pounding doors in an area that we have never been before. We just knocked a door and we hear a rustling in the tree behind us, we turn around to see like a 6 foot moose. haha it was awesome. The people here don't like them very much because they eat all the trees and stuff . So, all the neighbors were trying to talk to it and tell it to leave. Didn't work. So one of them found a fire cracker and tossed it in his general direction and he boosted into the woods. So I would say it was a pretty good week this week. :))

During General Conference, there was a talk a really liked, it was by Elder Maynes of the 70 during Priesthood session. Such a good talk. I would invite you all to read it, not just Priesthood holders. There was a quote that I really liked, "Brethren, perhaps there is no greater compliment we could receive from the Lord than to know He trusts us to be worthy priesthood holders and great husbands and fathers." We are all regular people who make mistakes, but the Lord still loves us and puts his trust in us. As we trust is him, he trusts us to do his work here on the earth. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful week this week, I sure do love you all! Never forget to Keep the Faith my friends. :)

Love,
Elder Baggett

Week 40 - Hallå mina vänner!

Hallå mina vänner! (Hello my Friends!)
How is it going! Another week FLEW by here in Sweden! It is crazy how weird time is on your mission. The days feel like ages, then all of the sudden you hit P-day again!  Everything is going really well here! Were on the down hill slope of the transfer and Elder Scott will be heading home soon. He has been working really hard wanting to end on the right foot. So that is what we have been doing! (Well, I mean we do that all the time, just more so now. haha)

This week, we had 3 lessons set up, 2 didn't show up and the other was with a member who is getting ready to go on a mission! So, a lot of finding time this week.  Elder Scott and I have some time to talk when we are knocking doors or whatever we are doing, and we have been talking a lot about being thankful for what we have and not being sad for what we don't! We have the greatest gift anyone could ask for! And that is the knowledge of the Restoration and the Plan of Salvation! Ever since I have started thinking about it like that, I am so excited and ready to get out and talk to people! Even though it's cold, and dark and people don't want to listen, we are there to find those prepared people. Because they are here! We just have to find them :)

Spiritual thought for the week, I was studying in Jacob 5 this week, and first off, it is amazing when you set your mind to understanding things, it works! I never thought I would be able to look forward to reading Jacob 5, but I loved it! and go so much out of it! But there was a few verses that really stuck out to me. verses 61 and 62. "61 Wherefore, go to, and call servants, that we may labor diligently with our might in the vineyard, that we may prepare the way, that I may bring forth again the natural fruit, which natural fruit is good and the most precious above all other fruit. 62 Wherefore, let us go to and labor with our might this last time, for behold the end draweth nigh, and this is for the last time that I shall prune my vineyard." We are the servants the Lord is talking about. We are here to find those that need the blessings of the gospel and bring them to the fold of the lamb. :)

Thanks my friends. I sure do love you all and I hope that life is treating you well! Have a good week and you'll hear from me soon! Don't forget to keep the faith!

Love,
Elder Baggett

Week 39 - Hallåååå

Hey Everyone!
How is it going?! The work is going pretty slow here, but we are loving the process! It really is so fun here. I love Sweden! It is such a great place. This week, we had 2 days that were super warm! But then it tanked again. haha time to break out the big guns for good. Winter is on it's way! I am excited though! It really sucks sweating all the time. haha

Funny story from this week, we were at the church getting some help with Family History, and the guy helping us left before us and locked the door behind him, (which activates the alarm) and we had no idea. So when we went to leave, we set off the motion sensors and the alarm went off. haha we didn't know what to do, so we were just going to wait for the the cops or security and tell them what happened. But they never came! haha so we figured out how to turn off the alarm and left. lol That was an adventure.

Some other highlights this week, I gave a talk in church this week. I get pretty stressed about talks before hand, but then I give it and say, "oh that wasn't too bad." I would say this Swedish this is really coming along. :) I love speaking it! It is so great! We had splits which was super fun! I got to go to Gothenburg and do big city contacting which is a blast. We did service for a member and helped a random guy find his keys in the grass. :) Fun week!

This week in my talk, I talked about how we need to stick to the simple point of the gospel. and how important it is to remember to go to church, pray and read our scriptures! God does not expect us to be perfect, He just expects progression. So this week, think about how you can be better at the simple things. :)

I hope you all have a wonderful week! I love you and don't forget to Keep the Faith. :)

Love,
Elder Baggett

Week 38 - Keep the Faith!

Hey everyone!
How is life in the Promised Land? Things are good hear on the other side of the world! The weather is cooling down, I haven't seen a blue sky, or any sky for that matter, in like 2 weeks. And boy oh boy... the rain. It has rained for about a week straight now. I hated it at first, but then I thought about it, why do I hate this? I'm not going to ruin my clothes or my backpack or my shoes. Well my hair does take a beating... But why hate it? It makes everything that much more of an adventure. :)

Some highlights from this week!  We had stake conference on Saturday and Sunday. We had it in this giant conference center type place called Svenska Mässan in Gothenburg. So that was a blast. We had a Guy from the Area 70 come. That was pretty cool. :) We met some new people, gave out some Books of Mormon, and got shut down a few times. haha

Funny story from this week, ( Background knowledge, Older Swedes usually don't have good English, but they try to speak to you anyway. Especially with us because they know we speak English.) So we stopped this lady on the street and we told her who we were and she looked at us and kept walking. As she walked away, in English said,"I am not interesting" Elder Scott and I couldn't help but just laugh. haha it was classic.

Spiritual Thought from this week. In the Saturday session of General Conference, the Stake Patriarch spoke. He said something that I really loved. "Try to make everyone happy, but start with yourself" and I love that! It is great to look  outward and see how we can help others. That is what the Lord taught us to do! In PMG there is a quote I think it is in the Book of Mormon chapter. But is says, "You can't convert anyone past your own conversion" So I invite you all this week to look at yourself, see how you can become happier and more converted to the Gospel. Then turn outwards. I promise the closer you are to Christ the more desire you will have to share His Gospel. :)

I love you all so much! Thank you for the love and support and your prayers. :) Hope you all have a wonderful week! as always, Keep the Faith!

Love,
Elder Baggett

Week 37 - Another day, another dollar

Hej allihopa! :)
Awesome week this week! I'm now in my new area of Allingsås and I love it here! The area is beautiful, we have a few awesome investigators, and the ward is the best! My new companion, Elder Scott, is a stud! He goes home this transfer, and told me he wants to end on top, so we have been going super hard this past week! The plan is to keep it up. :)

Highlights from the week, not a ton, but this ward is a lot like Handen in the sense that we get quite a few member dinners, so that has been fun. You get to know the ward. and I really like that. :) We do have a family that we are working with right now. So that is super fun! They have a Baptismal date for the 30 of September! Coming up very quickly on us. I look forward to working with them on their path to baptism and eventually the temple. :) Nothing too much else this week. haha

Spiritual thought for the week, we all have talents and abilities. Some more that others, but we all need to be humble. No matter what we accomplish in life, it is because it was in Gods plan, and he gave you the ability to do that. Ammon put it best, "11 But Ammon said unto him: I do not boast in my own strength, nor in my own wisdom; but behold, my joy is full, yea, my heart is brim with joy, and I will rejoice in my God. 12 Yea, I know that I am nothing; as to my strength I am weak; therefore I will not boast of myself, but I will boast of my God, for in his strength I can do all things; yea, behold, many mighty miracles we have wrought in this land, for which we will praise his name forever.-- "(Alma 26:11-12)

May we all be like Ammon! Learn to recognize Gods hand in your life! He is there. You just have to look for it. :)

Sorry it was so short this week, I don't really have too much to say. haha but I hope you all have a fantastic week! Make sure to Keep the Faith, and don't forget to wear your blue this week. ;) GO COUGS!

Love,

Elder Baggett
